Shawn’s professional background in municipal government began after college (B.A. in Political Science, University of Indianapolis '96) when he interned for the town of Middletown in Henry County. Shawn received the “Innovation in Local Government Award” from the Southern Indiana Rural Development Council in 1998. The award was presented by Congressman Lee Hamilton. Shawn went on to work in retail, insurance, and wealth management before the economic downturn of 2008 directed him toward education. Shawn began substitute teaching. The experience led him to obtain his Master of Arts in Teaching from his undergraduate alma mater.
In 2016, Shawn combined his love of Lawrence, his experience in education and his passion for service to run for a seat on the board of trustees with the MSD of Lawrence Township. In his service to the school district, Shawn has been committed to preserving the quality of public education Lawrence offers in a safe environment with efficiency in service and maintenance.
Shawn seeks to bring the successes he's championed in the school district to municipal government and be an advocate for opportunity in Lawrence by promoting public safety, economic development, and greater quality of life opportunities for all Lawrence residents.
